English Language Teaching in Preschool Through Drama

Abstract:

In the world where technology is rapidly developing, digital-assisted, technological-assisted

teaching methods have increased, although the need for human and community-oriented

teaching methods has increased. The drama method in education can also be said to be a

teaching method for the needs specified by these characteristics, which are related to the

society and the personhood. The purpose of this research is to examine the effectiveness of the

ability of English language education to be given to preschool children through drama. In the

context of this aim, a total of 22 activities were applied to preschool children aged 3-4 and 5-6

for 8 weeks. As a result of the activities applied, drama activities can be said to contribute to

the English language education of preschool children and to support their development. In

addition, it has been observed that children who give short answers to questions before the

activities or who refrain from taking their say are willing to answer after the drama and give

concrete examples of their daily lives related to drama activity gains.
