Abstract:

During the National Struggle period, there were changes in many social, cultural and economic balances in the country. The effects of the period, which were also reflected in the architecture, were called the National Architecture Period and found a place in all buildings from public to civil. With Atatürk's arrival in Ankara in 1919, the city became an important center of the country and allowed the traces of the National Architecture Period to spread from here for the first time. New ways have been sought for the housing need that will arise with the opening of the parliament. In this study, the architectural features of the buildings of the period and the new solution apartment buildings were examined. Ilhan Aydın Apartment Building, located in the Anafartalar Region, has been identified as one of the important buildings where we can see these qualities, and the need for preservation has been determined and since there is no documentation about the building, it has been selected for inclusion in the literature. Within the scope of the study, the current situation of Ilhan Aydın Apartment was documented in detail, the changes were determined, its restitution was prepared by comparing it with other buildings belonging to the period and by collecting the necessary documents. Finally, a functional proposal and physical intervention decisions were developed in terms of the originality of the building and its preservation and living in its environment.
