Abstract

© 2022 Elsevier GmbHIn this paper, the analysis of non-uniform time modulated arrays (NTMA) on the ground plane, in which antenna elements are modulated with different modulation frequencies, is presented theoretically by evaluating the horizontal and vertical polarization conditions. The constructive and disruptive effects of multipath propagation consisting of direct radiation using the line of sight and the most basic reflected radiation are investigated at the observation point. Furthermore, the closed-form expression of the total harmonic power losses of the NTMA placed at a certain height from the ground plane is derived. Depending on the height of the array elements from the ground plane, it causes positive and negative effects on the power consumption rate of NTMA's harmonics and thus on the radiation efficiency. Also, the representative examples of NTMA on the ground plane, unlike the isolated environment are comprehensively presented.
