Abstract

Purpose: Coating wooden material with resin lacquer, which is more sensitive to human health and environment, and hardening the material by dry oven temperature, resulting to measurement of brightness and color change. Theory and Methods: Resin lacquer was applied as an organic upper surface material on the surfaces of scotch pine, Eastern beech and Anatolian chestnut, and their brightness and color change values were determined. It is a new method to coat the wood surface with "food lacquer" for the first time and to solidify it with the firing temperature instead of the hardener as a catalyst. Results: The optimum experimental values obtained show that organic resin based food lacquer can be applied as a varnish on wood material. Conclusion: In lacquered wood material, the total color change increases as the oven temperature increases, and the best result is obtained at a temperature of 80celcius and is in the very high gloss class.
