Abstract

Trauma is one of the most common cause of admission to the hospital in childhood. A seven year-old girl who had a history of fall from a tree five days ago, was admitted to our hospital with the complaints of fever, abdominal pain and vomiting. In the right upper quadrant of the abdomen there was a sutured wound which was 4cm length and localized tenderness was observed in this region. Hepatic abscess was demonstrat on abdominal tomography. In the operation a hepatic abscess was drained and splinters which were penetrating into the liver were removed. Postoperative period was uneventful. In a penetrating abdominal trauma even if it seems limited to superficial tissues, it must be examined carefully and explored for intraabdominal injuries.
