Özet

The aim of this study was to assess the environmental worries of teacher trainees, and identify their attitudes to protect environment. This was a descriptive field study. The study group was made up of 120 teacher trainees. The data were collected by using open-ended questions developed by the researchers, and were interpreted by making content analysis. At the end of the study, it was understood that the teacher trainees obtained most of the information about environment through internet, TV, and course books. Global warming, earth/air/water pollution, decrease in animal and plant species were the topics which worried the trainees most in terms of environment. It was understood that not to waste, to use recyclable products, and to plant were environmental actions which the trainees had done most.. Moreover, it was figured out that the teacher trainees expressed the human factors were the main culprits of environmental problems. (C) 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
