Abstract

This chapter examines the phenomenon of alienation in the context of higher education. Firstly, the historical/conceptual background and dimensions of alienation were examined. After a brief introduction to the higher education system in Türkiye, the literature on student, academic, and administrative staff alienation in higher education and how to deal with it was investigated. The literature review showed that, despite the increase in alienation studies in education in the Turkish context, alienation in higher education has not received sufficient attention. Current studies show that alienation is a serious problem in the field of higher education, and necessary measures should be taken.
