Condition monitoring of ball bearings by analyzing vibration signals is successfully applied both numerically and experimentally. The most critic point in vibration analysis is early and successful detection of defect formation. The characteristic vibrations due to these defects ought to be understood well enough for this reason. In this study, localized defects in balls and rings of an angular contact ball bearing are modeled and deformations at the contact between ball and rings as well as internal forces are analyzed.
