Abstract

Objectives:

This case report aims to demonstrate the restoration of aesthetic function and appearance in a 57-year-old female with unsatisfactory anterior veneers. It addresses challenges of excessive tooth preparation and insufficient enamel thickness, providing a conservative yet durable solution using full crowns, a cutback technique, monolithic zirconia, and E-max restoration.

Case Report:

A 57-year-old female applied with dissatisfaction regarding her anterior veneers, particularly the fractured veneer on tooth #23. Clinical examination revealed excessive preparation of the teeth, leaving insufficient enamel for new veneers, and the existing veneers showed signs of failure. Given the risks of redoing veneers, full crowns from teeth #13 to #23 were recommended.

The preparations were done using a chamfer technique, ensuring minimal removal of healthy tooth structure. A cutback technique was applied, combining a monolithic zirconia core and E-max restoration material to achieve both functional and aesthetic results. Adjacent teeth were polished to match the final restoration. The patient was monitored over one year with no clinical failures reported.

Conclusions:

This case demonstrates an effective approach to aesthetic restoration in compromised tooth preparations. The combination of full crowns, a cutback technique, and high-strength materials like monolithic zirconia and E-max restorations proved successful in achieving both aesthetic and functional outcomes. The treatment showed long-term stability after one year, providing an alternative to traditional laminate veneers when excessive tooth reduction and insufficient enamel exist.
