Özet

In this study, PM10 and SO2 concentrations in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey, were first analyzed for a 23-year period from 1990 to 2013, and then for a 12-month period in 2013. The annually averaged PM10 concentrations in Ankara ranged from 36 mu g/m(3) to 83 mu g/m(3), between 1990 and 2013. In almost all years of study, with the exception of 2007, PM10 concentrations exceeded the European Union limit. Concentrations were high during the winter due to air pollution, and the monthly mean concentrations of PM10 at six stations reached yearly maxima during the winter months, with a range of 38 mu g/m(3) to 145 mu g/m(3). Annually averaged SO2 concentrations in Ankara ranged from 11 mu g/m(3) to 170 mu g/m(3) between 1990 and 2013. Between the years of 1990 and 2007, SO2 concentrations exceeded the European Union limit. Concentrations were high during the winter, due to air pollution; the monthly mean concentrations of SO2 at the six stations, with exception of Cebeci, reached yearly maxima during the winter months, showing a range of 9 mu g/m(3) to 25 mu g/m(3).
