Özet

Purpose: To report a single-center experience of endovascular treatment of aorto-iliac occlusive disease (AIOD) with TransAtlantic Inter-Society Consensus II (TASC II) C and D lesions.

Methods: Endovascular treatment of aorto-iliac occlusive disease were performed in 123 patients (mean age 66 years; 104 men, 19 women) with 157 stents and/or 72 stent-grafts The lesions were as follows; (İmage 1 and İmage 2) Demographic, clinical, and procedural data were also analyzed.

Results: Successful deployment of the endovascular stents / stent-grafts were achieved in all patients. Technical success was 100% with no procedural morbidity. In 12 cases, complications such as extravasation and dissection that occurred during the procedure were eliminated by additional balloon, stent or stent-graft applications in the same session. Six minor complications such as hematoma / pseudoaneurysm at the puncture site were treated with mechanical compression .

Conclusion: According TASC II recommendations, surgery is the preferred treatment for type C and D lesions. However, there are also reports of endovascular treatment of type C and D lesions. Our study reveals that endovascular treatment has high rates of technical and clinical success, offering an alternative to surgical treatment, which used to be the only option for these patients. It can be successfully used for patients with comorbidities that make them unsuitable for surgery.
