This study aims to examine the sports imagination and problem solving skills of children aged 12-16 who are interested in darts. In the study based on the descriptive screening model, the “Sports Imagination Scale for Children” and the “Primary School Level Problem Solving Inventory” were applied to 144 children. The findings revealed that children generally have high levels of imagination and problem solving skills. A positive and moderately significant relationship was found between sports imagination levels and problem solving skills (r = .388, p < .001). According to the gender variable, a significant difference was found in favor of female participants only in the “confidence in problem solving skills” dimension. In terms of the age variable, it was observed that the 14, 15 and 16 age groups tended to imagine at a higher level in the general-motivation superiority dimension. It was determined that as the duration of involvement in darts increased, both imagination and problem solving skills improved. These findings show that darts can be a supportive tool for mental development and reveal that sports have an impact not only on physical but also on cognitive processes.
