The Thermal and Fluid Science Research Group in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Gazi University, which conducts its studies under the supervision of Dr. Tamer Çalışır. The Thermal and Fluid Science Research (TFS) Group utilizes theoretical, experimental, and computational methodologies to investigate a wide range of fundamental and practical heat and fluid flow systems. A particular interest is in thermo-fluid dynamics of continuous and synthetic impinging jets, heat exchangers, heat pipes, phase change materials, heat transfer enhancement techniques, electronic cooling systems, heating and cooling systems, and aerodynamics.

The studies mentioned include various experiments conducted in a laboratory environment. The lab, which was established by Prof. Dr. Senol Baskaya, is equipped with experimental facilities and computational tools to investigate a wide range of topics. The group has expertise in PIV, LDA, and Infrared thermography techniques applied to thermo-fluid-dynamics problems. Also, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques are used in the group, and FloEFD, PHOENICS, Fluent, ANSYS CFX, and OpenFOAM are employed. The group is involved in a variety of research projects in the field of thermos-fluid-dynamics.

Although the studies are primarily academic research at the master’s or doctoral level, undergraduate students also contribute to them.

The established results are presented through publications in prestigious international journals, presentations at prestigious scientific congresses, and conference presentations.
