Özet:

 In Turkey, the avalanche events which took place especially in nineties' caused many people death and great economic loss. For this reason nowadays, the protection methods against avalanche became rather important. Avalanche protection methods can be as temporary and permenant ones. In this thesis, hydraulic and mechanical design of barrier as permanent protection means is studied and compared with other protection methods. Trabzon- Çaykara-Uzungöl and Kastamonu-Küre- Kayaarkası villages were chosen as study areas and the barrier protections were applied to these regions.
