Özet:
ÖZET
20. yy.’ın en üretken bestecileri arasında yer alan Bohuslav Martinu’nun Flüt Sonatı,
flüt repertuvarında önemli bir yere sahiptir. Eser, ritmik zenginliği ile flütün geniş teknik
olanaklarını sunma imkânı sağlamakta ve içerdiği melodik öğeler ile çekici bir konser parçası
niteliği taşımaktadır.
Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde, Bohuslav Martinu’nun biyografisi ve tarihsel
perspektifte bestecilik kimliği ele alınmıştır. Besteci Çekoslavakya’da doğmuş; ancak
yaşamının büyük bir kısmını Batı Avrupa’da ve Amerika’da, vatanına her daim hasret
duyarak geçirmiştir. Yaşadığı yıllarda, 1. Dünya Savaşı, 2. Dünya Savaşı ve Soğuk Savaş gibi
tarihe yön veren büyük olaylara tanık olmuş; bu olaylar Martinu’nun hayatını ve bestecilik
kimliğini doğrudan etkilemiştir.
Yaşamını Paris’te, Amerika’da ve ardından Batı Avrupa’da göçebe olarak
geçirmesiyle Martinu, çağdaşları arasında en kozmopolit bakış açısına sahip figür olmuştur.
Besteci yaşadığı yerlerin kültürlerine, müzik ve genel anlamda sanat akımlarına karşı kayıtsız
kalmamış; bu etkileri farklı türlerde ve stillerdeki müzikler ile harmanlamıştır. Çalışmanın
ikinci bölümünde bestecinin etkilendiği müzik akımları, etkilendiği besteciler ve bu etkilerle
oluşturduğu çok çeşitli türlerdeki müzikler kısaca anlatılmıştır. Martinu’nun müzikal
kimliğinin ele alındığı bu bölüm, Flüt Sonatı üzerindeki etkiler ve eser içinde kullanılan
teknikler hakkında fikir vermektedir.
Çalışmanın üçüncü bölümünde Flüt Sonatı yapısal açıdan incelenmiş ve bestecinin
müzik sanatına en büyük katkılarından biri olarak kabul edilen özgün “germinal development
(oluşum aşamasındaki motifsel gelişme)” tekniğinden söz edilmiştir. Bu teknik küçük bir
motifin işlenerek bölüm veya eser içinde çok farklı şekillerde kullanılmasına dayalıdır ve Flüt
Sonatı, bestecinin bu tekniği en ustaca kullandığı eserleri arasında yer almaktadır.
Çalışmanın dördüncü bölümü ise, eser içinde karşılaşılabilecek teknik sorunlara
çözüm önerileri sunmasıyla, çalıcılara kılavuz olma amacı taşımaktadır.

ABSTRACT
The First Sonata by Bohuslav Martinu, who was regarded one of the most prolific
composers of the 20th century, has an outstanding place in the flute repertoire. With its
rhymical diversity, this sonata allows the artist to present the wide technical capabilities of
flute and qualifies as an attractive concert piece due to its melodical elements.
In the first part of the study, the biography of Bohuslav Martinu and his identity as a
composer in historical perspective, are dealt with. The Composer was born in
Czechoslovakia, but he spent a considerable part of his lifetime in Western Europe and
America, invariably in nostalgia. He witnessed important historical events such as WWI,
WWII and the Cold War, and these events affected Martinu’s life and his professional identity
as a composer directly.
Spending his life as a nomad in Paris, America and Western Europe, Martinu became
a figure who acquired the most cosmopolitan viewpoint among his contemporaries. The
composer was never indifferent to the culturel values, musical trends and general artistic
currents of the places he lived and he combined these influences with various genres of music.
In the second part of the study, influences of the musical trends on Martinu, influences of the
other composers on Martinu and various kind of musical productions he composed under
these influences, are briefly presented. This part in which the musical identity of Martinu is
evaluated also illuminates us about influences on the First Sonata and the techniques referred
to within the work.
In the third part of the study, the First Sonata is dealt with structurally and it is
mentioned the “germinal development”, which is regarded as one of his most prominent
contributions to the music. This technique is based on the processing of a tiny motive and its
application in various forms in the work. The First Sonata is one of the works in which
Martinu used this technique skillfully.
The fourth part of the study aims at being a guide by offering solutions to the
problems likely to be encountered in the First Sonata, for those who study it.
