Özet

Ever-increasing human population brings along human needs keep on increasing day by day. Trade, both domestic and international, has a vital importance for improving the significance of logistics activities and logistics sectors in order to meet growing demands. Increasing trade volumes influence the flow of goods from suppliers to manufacturers, manufacturers to end users. At this point freight villages play a key role to provide the flow. In this regard as a significant logistics transfer center between Asia and Europe, it is crucial for Turkey to be a logistics center. In this paper, emphasized whether the freight villages are established whereas considering the importance of freight services of Turkish State Railways (TCDD). Thus, concept of freight village, the planning of establishment of TCDD freight villages in 12 distinct locations in Turkey and possible contributions of these villages to the railway transport and the freight services of TCDD are considered. The current situation, freight profile, distribution network for transports are observed, transports from 7 geographical regions of Turkey to the freight centers are determined and by using linear programming and 0-1 integer programming a new distribution network is designed. The created model is solved and the results are interpreted. (C) 2015 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
