6-Substituted-2-benzothiazolinone derivatives, synthesis and analgesic activity

Abstract

Three derivatives of 5-chloro-2-benzothiazolinone carrying benzoyl group at the position 6, and four derivatives N-methyl-2-benzothiazolinone carrying cinnamoyl group the position 6 have been synthesized and their structure elucidated by IR, 1H-NMR spectral data and elemental analysis. Analgesic activity of the compounds has been investigated by modified Koster test in mice using aspirin and tiaramide as references. Compound 5b, 5c and 5d have been more potent than references.
