In this study, the gray-level image data is acquired by solid state cameras that are used for security in Ankara-Kizilay station of Ankara Rapid Rail Transit System, the objects are extracted from the background of the image by utilizing the image segmentation or intermediate level processing, and then using image enhancement technique, the remaining objects are investigated in detail. In the next step, the area information has been extracted from the gray-scale histogram of the image of isolated objects. The area information is used in obtaining approximate number of passengers. Finally, this information is used as an input for ARIMA Models in order to predict the number of passengers, which will be utilized as the input data for the optimization of the time between headways.
