Özet

Velayetnames (wardship: holiness for piety, virtue, etc.), emerged around 11(th) and 12(th) centuries, were the sources that lighted the dark corners of our cultural history, and helped to determine the spiritual history, included the miraculous lives of tariqat leaders. The Velayetname, also known as menakibname, that consisted of Haci Bektash Veli's life style, his close friends and environment, his religios service, his types of costume, his miracles, narratives and anectodes as well as merits and virtues of his personage collected from his followers is an excellent work of art. The aim of this article is to expose the valuable portrait of Haci Bektash Veli in the minds of those who lived when Velayetname was written. This study brings Haci Bektash Veli's appearance, his education, his environment and his teachings into light.
