LINGUOSTYLISTICS OF PIERRE ABELARD’S AND HELOЇSE FULBERT’S EPISTOLARY SPEECHThe article deals with the linguostylistic peculiarities of letters (book “The Letters of Abelard and Héloïse”) of medieval Frenchphilosopher and his beloved Héloïse. The letters have been the documentation of comprehension of livelihood, theological beliefs andthe inner world of the famous figure of the past, and also actively interpreted in the fiction for ages. The Pierre Abelard’s and Héloïse Fulbert’s epistolary speech is an emotionalintimate, intellectual communication of two educatedpeople, who were separated by circumstances (he is a scholartheologian, who used to live in a monastery for some time, and she lived only inthe monastery after the breaking with her beloved man). One of the linguocultural peculiarities of their letters is the quotations from canonicalChristian books, that were wellknown to scholars and writers of that time, which not only tells about the level of epistolary speech, butrepresents the worldview of addressees (August, Aspania, Apollos, Virgil, David, Dalila, Ephta, Xenophon, Cornelius, Moses, Ovid, Pompey,Seneca etc.). Personalities depicted in the letters are fully coordinated with the epoch and personalities, whose activities influence the being ofaddипаressees. The Pierre Abelard’s and Héloïse Fulbert’s epistolary speech is practically built on constructions which are connected withChristian beliefs, which are meaningful for the language etiquette of that time, – the names of main theological terms and biblicalcharacters, sacraments, the vocabulary of the denotation of the church calendar, subjects of worship, church hierarchy, names oftemples, monasteries, priestly armors, the vocabulary of Christian moral.Differential peculiarities highlighted in the researched letters: discursiveness, the unity of the addressee and the sender and linguostylistic peculiarities: the availability of linguoculturemes, connotations, which have evaluativeemotional function (formulasaddressings, formulasfarewells, wishes, requests), verbs in imperative mood, phrases with instructive content, exclamatory interrogative sentences.
