Özet

In this paper the cheer culture in Turkish sport activities will be demonstrated with the examples and discussed within the context of old and contemporary oral culture. Since old times, it is easy to observe the cheer culture between sport fans; so that their cheering ceremonies are mostly like carnivals and festivals. It is almost like a tradition to compose songs for the sport clubs and teams. However the language they use is slang and it's easy to find so many examples of vulgar culture in it. And these slang words usually indicates the gender issues. Unfortunately the slang use of cheering is very new for our traditional cheering culture. Thus in this paper, the old and the new tradition of cheering will be compared with each other with the given examples.
