Özet

In this study, effects of material types and board thickness on moment capacity of corner joints constructed with dowel joints and screwed joints in the case furniture were investigated. 16 and 18mm thickness particleboard, medium density of fiberboard (MDF), and okoume (Aucoumea klaineana) plywood used as the materials and screw and dowel as fasteners were used in the tests. PVAc were used as a gluing material at these joints. A total of 120 test samples were prepared for both diagonal tension and diagonal compression tests. Tests were performed under static loads according to ASTM-D 1037 standard. As a result, higher moment values were obtained on plywood and MDF samples jointed with glue and screw. When this results are expressed as their thickness, 18mm test samples were provided higher moment capacity than 16mm, but also applicable of corner joints produced from 16mm thickness material because of technical and economical matters were determined.
