Özet

Shock absorber systems are suspension components providing a continuous connection between the road and the tires of the vehicles. They also help to absorb the vibrations caused by the road roughness. It is used to provide driving comfort to the driver by damping the free oscillating movements of the springs or keeping these oscillating movements under control. Recently, shock absorbers have been used in energy harvesting operations, too. The electromagnetic shock absorber works by adding electromagnets to the suspension system, generating a magnetic field to control damping. In this work, an electromagnetic shock absorber system is designed and prototyped to absorb and dissipate strong shocks and kinetic energy. By applying the external excitations under various frequencies, it has been observed that the vibrations can be decreased by means of electromagnetic strength in the reverse direction, and this energy can be easily restored to a battery system for a wide range of vibration frequencies.
