Abstract

This study contains information about the types and characteristics of educational workshops conducted in formal and informal educational settings in recent years. The aim is to provide teachers and researchers with valuable insights when conducting and planning educational workshops. Workshops can cover various disciplines and fields such as science education, robotics, mathematics, art, wood shaping, and more. The objectives of workshops can generally be summarized as teaching science, facilitating science communication, and instructing educators on how to teach science. Workshops can be classified from different perspectives. However, regardless of the type of workshop, factors to consider when developing workshop content include the target audience, age group, duration of implementation, feasibility, access to materials, scientific concept knowledge, assessment process, and educational approach. Educational workshops support participants in developing both cognitive and methodological skills and instill attitudes, self-confidence, and motivation in participants who work like scientists. Educational workshops can be classified as outcome-based, learning-centered, and preference-based. Additionally, based on the target audience, workshops are categorized as 'student and family workshops' and 'teacher training workshops'. Keywords: educational workshops, teacher, types of workshops
