Özet

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. Patients whose symptoms and findings suggest lung cancer or have a suspicious finding on chest x-ray should be examined as soon as possible. Noninvasive (chest radiography, thorax CT, PET, sputum cytology) and invasive methods (bronchoscopy, transthoracic needle biopsy, lymph node biopsies, surgical procedures such as VATS) are available for the diagnosis of lung cancer. Initial evaluation should be undertaken using a multidisciplinary approach in reducing time to therapy. By this way, the extent and clinical stage of the disease can be determined, the most suitable place and sampling method can be decided to reach the tissue diagnosis, and the correct treatment choice can be planned
