Abstract
Primary liver tumors are rare in childhood. The most common
live tumors under the age of three are hepatoblastomas. Surgical resection is
the main choice for the treatment of hepatoblastomas.
Anesthesia management of those cases are debilitating because
of prolonged surgery time, impaired hepatic blood flow, bleeding, acute
hemodynamic changes, liver ischemia, deterioration of hemostatic mechanisms due
to the size of resected live tissue, and hemorragia are the main problems
complicating the anesthesia application in those cases.
In this case report, we aim to present and discuss the challenges
of anesthesia management in a case of a 7-months-old infant who was planned for
liver resection due to hepatoblastoma in the light of current literature.
