Özet
From the moment humans discovered fire, they began to write their destiny with technology; today, this story opens a new chapter in the history of civilization with the rapidly ongoing digital transformation. This digital transformation goes beyond technological innovation; it initiates a process of restructuring society, the economy, social life, and individuals. Today, digital technologies are widely used in the transportation sector, especially in road transport. These technologies are changing road infrastructure and management, improving road safety, promoting sustainable transportation, and making mobility safer, greener, and more efficient while focusing on people. However, this process requires addressing challenges such as financing and high start-up costs, data management and cybersecurity issues, infrastructure and technological compatibility issues, a lack of specialized human resources, and deficiencies in the legal and regulatory framework. This chapter, titled “Digital Transformation in Road Transportation” provides a comprehensive overview of the digitalization process in road transport and examines innovative applications. It assesses the opportunities arising from the use of digital technologies and focuses on their potential to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability in transportation.
