The aim of this study is to examine the gains of "entrepreneurship", which is available in the new primary education course programmes developed by Turkish Ministry of Education in 2004, in terms of effectiveness in enabling students to acquire entrepreneurship properties. The "entrepreneurship" gains which are available in the syllabus of such courses as Life Sciences, Turkish, Social Sciences, Mathematics, and Science and Technology were compared with the properties of gains which were determined through literature review, and were evaluated. The examination made it evident that the entrepreneurship gains in the primary education course programmes were directed to developing some properties of entrepreneurship, but that were insufficient in facilitation of some properties. In consequence of the research, recommendations on the more active inclusion of entrepreneurship gains and on the development of entrepreneurship properties were made. (c) 2009 Elsevier Ltd.
