Acute pancreatitis during treatment of myeloid malignancies is very rare. A few cases of acute pancreatitis related to cytosine arabinoside, interferon alpha, all trans retinoic acid, amphotericine B during treatment of myeloid malignancies have been reported previously. We describe the clinical course of a patient with granulocytic sarcoma who developed acute pancreatitis associated with cytosine arabinoside at a late period of therapy. A 26 year-old Caucasian woman who received idarubicine and cytarabine as remission induction and consolidation therapy developed acute pancreatitis on after the treatment 23th day. This case demonstrates that acute pancreatitis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of abdominal pain in patients with acute leukaemia treated with either amphotericine B or cytosine arabinoside or combination of these agents.
