Özet
In our study the effects of short-term and single use of halothane and isoflurane on liver blood flow, hepatocyte functions and malonyl dialdehyde (MDA) levels were compared. Following 12 hours of fasting, 15 male New Zealand rabbits weighing 1.5-2.5 kg were allocated into 3 groups after the approval of hospital ethic committee. Heart rate and peripheral oxygen saturation were continuously monitored throughout the procedure. Control group consisting of 5 rabbits which were not given any anaesthetic agents were administered Tc-99m HMPAO via auricular vein after collecting blood samples for the assessment of MDA and then liver HMPAO index was calculated. In the isoflurane group, isoflurane 2 % in 100 % oxygen was administered for 45 minutes by a modified nonrebreathing inhalation circuit. Following IV injection of Tc-99m HMPAO, HMPAO index was calculated and MDA levels were assessed. In the other group the same procedure was performed by using 1.5 % halothane. Liver perfusion in the halothane group changed significantly with respect to control group but, no significant change was observed in the isoflurane group. The MDA levels in the halothane group increased significantly with respect to isoflurane and control groups as well. Consequently, as it was demonstrated in our study by both conventional methods and biochemical studies halothane should be used more cautiously than isoflurane.
