In this study, St52 material
that three different thicknesses were processed by changing various parameters
on a fiber laser machine, and the effects of process parameters on cutting
quality were investigated. We created three replicated experimental plans
related to 81 test samples by the response surface methodology. Then, we
measured the average surface roughness (Ra), average roughness depth (Rz),
quadratic average roughness value (Rq), maximum roughness depth (Rt), surface
hardness, and heat-affected zone. Finally, the processing time per test sample
was determined as the response value. Afterward, with the help of Minitab, we
aimed to find the optimum parameters affecting the product quality. When we
obtained results in terms of surface hardness, we observed that the surface
hardness decreases with the increase in cutting speed. The surface hardness at
the macro level increases with the higher level of laser power and auxiliary
gas pressure.
