Purpose: Investigating effects of open or closed scenarios of dome drum windows of the Type 6 Mevlana Mosque. Temperature and visibility on human safety in the first 500 seconds from the beginning of the fire are also investigated. Theory and Methods: This study is focusing on the effects of the fire situation in a 750 people capacity mosque which is one of the domed mosque projects prepared by Presidency of Religious Affairs of Turkey. In this study, the package program "PyroSim", which is one of the prevalent programs for fire dynamic simulations (FDS) is used. Results: As an outcome of the simulation, it is found that the available safe egress time (ASET) on the ground floor is 220 seconds in closed windows condition (Scenario 1) and 230 seconds in open windows condition (Scenario 2). The available safe egress time (ASET) in the ladies' section is found as 130 seconds for in closed windows condition (Scenario 1), 150 seconds for in open windows condition (Scenario 2). It is concluded that in open windows condition ASET time is increased respectively 10 seconds and 20 seconds for ground and first floor. Conclusion: Using operable windows in mosque dome drums with open condition increases available safe egress time (ASET) by exhausting the smoke in a fire. center dot Fire simulation in the domed mosque center dot The effect of the dome drum windows (i.e. open or closed) on fire safety Examination of the available safe egress time (ASET) in 750 kW fire in the Type 6 Mevlana Mosque with a capacity of 750 people
