Studies of the alkaloidal constituents of Senecio racemasus have resulted in the isolation of sarracine and 9-angelyiplatynecine, along with a new secopyrrolizidine base, senecioracenine [1]. The structure 1 has been assigned on the basis of spectral studies including 2D nmr.
