Özet

Ecthyma gangrenosum (EG) is considered to be a pathognomonic sign of Pseudomonas aeruginosa septicemia and is predominantly seen in immunosuppressed patients. Although P. aeruginosa is the most recognized pathogen of EG, numerous other organisms have been reported to cause clinically identical lesions. We report a case of an EG-like eruption caused by Burkholderia cepacia, in an intensive care unit patient with multiple myeloma. © 2007 Urban & Vogel.
