Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the attitudes of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students attending primary schools toward recycling. The study is designed as a survey model and the study group consists of 201 students attending 3 primary schools. The attitude toward recycling scale developed by researchers was used as a data collection tool. The scale included 13 different items and the Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient was found to be 0.73. Data obtained from the study were analyzed via t test, ANOVA and scheffe tests by using SPSS software package. In conclusion, it was found that the attitudes of female students toward recycling is greater, the attitudes of the students toward recycling differentiate significantly depending on the grade level and the attitudes of the students toward recycling vary with the frequencies of their recycling behavior.
