This study, in the case of Ankara, aims to research how well the residents of a metropolitan city know about the city they live in, how conscious they are about the city and being a city resident, whether they are reconciled with the city or not, whether the state of belonging to space has been evolved or not and whether the socio-cultural ties are sufficient to protect the city or not. In this study; it is aimed to measure level of becoming urbanized in the metropolitan area of Ankara with meaningful variables. Factor analysis as the methodology was used to measure the similarities of the relationships between data in a more meaningful and summarized way. A total of 415 households surveyed in eight districts (Altindag, cankaya, Etimesgut, Golbasi, Kecioren, Mamak, Sincan, Yenimahalle) in Ankara metropolitan area. Four factors explaining urban consciousness were identified and the results were interpreted.
