Globally, as of 1 May 2020, the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic has affected 3,175,207 people in more than 180 countries on five continents and 224,172 deaths were reported to World Health Organization (WHO). As large numbers of people were infected during the pandemic, elder patients and patients who have chronic diseases (eg, chronic metabolic/cardiovascular/pulmonary/renal disease, cancer, HIV infection, organ or bone marrow transplantation) admit to care facilities with more serious conditions and their prognosis are much worse. Special care for prevention and management of the disease is necessary for some group of patients. One of the three priorities that WHO indicates for countries is to protect those at highest risk of severe disease (eg, older adults and those with medical comorbidities). This chapter includes prevention and management of SARS-CoV-2 infection in cancer patients, patients who have HIV infection and patients with chronic kidney disease.
