Safety is an inseparable element of transportation, and violations in traffic are becoming a major problem for safe transportation day by day. In this review study, attitudes that may pose a risk in traffic and elements that may trigger the occurrence of violations were investigated. In this context, the drivers who have the main share in the occurrence of traffic violations were evaluated as a priority and the factors affecting the occurrence of traffic violations were examined under three main headings: "Demographic factors", "Psychological and physiological factors" and "External factors". Demographic factors were classified as five, psychological and physiological factors as three, and external factors as seven subgroups, taking into account expert opinion and literature. Furthermore, in order to ensure the effective enforcement of traffic rules, measures implemented in Türkiye and other countries under the subheadings of "Technological applications", "Advanced infrastructure", "Legal applications and sanctions", and "Education and public awareness", as well as studies examining the effectiveness of these measures and the impact of traffic safety culture on transportation safety, were included. It is envisaged that this study, which also includes the statistical methods used in the relevant studies, will contribute to the planned future studies, strategies aimed at making traffic safer in Türkiye and improving transportation.
