In this article, the entrance hole of Education Block of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (Gazi University) is discussed in terms of its "initial image" and "inherent image" in users' mind. The study stems from the following assertion: The image (of a space) changes by time in terms of quality and quantity. The study is conducted through a questionnaire, which was consisted of close ended questions. Subjects were the first year students of 2001-2002 term, who experienced the space for the first time at the beginning of the first semester. The close ended questions were due to subjects' initial image of the focused space and was also due to the inherent image of the focused setting, therefore was related with subjects' experience at the time of answering questionnaires / at the end of the second semester -6 months later than the time of initial image. In addition, focusing on the behavioral performances of the setting, two design proposals were developed in the world of virtual reality. The initial image of the users was tested with questions formed by semantic differential tests and findings were discussed in terms of initial image value.
