There are different ways for people to be trained with regard to some special skills and information they need. These ways include textbooks and computers, in recent years especially, mobile or other electronic devices such as Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), handheld technologies and tablet PCs. The choice of learner depends on an individual access to different technologies and the infrastructure environment. Adopting accurate information technology at the right time and right place in a rapidly changing society is a vital factor both in school and educational settings. Augmented reality (AR) is one of the technologies that shifts the location and timing of education and it is one of the concepts that we frequently hear in recent years. Despite the use of AR in a wide areas such as enginerring, product development, factory planning, manufacturing, advertising, etc., there is also the potential for AR use in educational context. This study explores different types of AR use in various areas and then argues its potential in education. AR is seen as one of the important issues that can be studied by researches in education in the near future.
