In this study, the effect of the addition of different ratios of colemanite (0.5-4 %) on tribological properties of bronze based brake lining material containing 6 % fly ash fabricated by hot pressing method were investigated. The friction-wear tests of produced brake lining materials were performed on a Chase type friction tester according to SAE J661 test standard. Furthermore, some of physical properties such as density and hardness were also determined. Wear surface of samples were characterized by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) to determine the wear mechanism. Wear resistance and friction coefficient values of all the brake lining specimens were found to be in the range specified in SAE-J661 standard. In terms of wear resistance, the best result was found for brake lining material without colemanite addition while 0,5 % colemanite added sample gave the best result in terms of friction coefficient.
