4th International Conference on Smart Grid and Renewable Energy, SGRE 2024, Doha, Qatar, 8 - 10 Ocak 2024
Smart grid employes advanced controls, metering infrastructure and automation to monitor and manage grid operations. This includes fault detection, isolation, and restoration systems that help minimize downtime during outages. The current research proposes a novel architecture of active filter based on the PEC 13 topology which offers good current harmonic elimination and power factor correction while maintaining reliable and uninterrupted power supply, especially in the presence of faults or disturbances which fits the smart grid applications. The proposed controller, which incorporates a model predictive controller alongside a PI controller for reference current calculation, adapts seamlessly to changes in the power circuit, even in the event of open circuit faults in any of the four-quadrant switches. Through rigorous simulation testing, the proposed shunt active filter has demonstrated its prowess in harmonics elimination and reactive power compensation, both in normal and faulty conditions.
