Türk dünyası coğrafyası dersi, 2023- 2024 eğitim- öğretim yılından itibaren ortaöğretim kurumlarında 10 ve 11. sınıflarda seçmeli ders olarak seçilebilmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, öğrencilerin Türk dünyası farkındalıklarının oluşmasında Türk dünyası coğrafyası dersinin etkisinin olup olmadığını belirlemektir. Araştırma fenomenolojik desende kurgulanmıştır. Veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniğiyle toplanmıştır. Kayseri’de bulunan bir Anadolu Lisesi’nin seçmeli Türk dünyası coğrafyası dersini alan 30 öğrencisi ile bu dersi almayan 30 öğrencisi çalışma grubunu oluşturmaktadır. Öğrenciler 11. sınıftadır. Katılımcıların %40’ı erkek; %60’ı kızdır. Katılımcıların seçiminde amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Görüşmeler 4 gün sürmüş toplamda 20 saat 9 dakika 17 saniye görüşme yapılmıştır. Görüşmeler eğitim öğretim yılı sonunda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler, içerik analizi ve betimsel analiz yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Bulgulara göre seçmeli Türk dünyası coğrafyası dersini alan öğrencilerin almayanlara göre Türk Dünyası farkındalığının geliştiği anlaşılmıştır. Bulgulara göre bu dersin Türk devletlerinin coğrafyasının öğretiminde önemli bir yere sahip olduğu sonucu çıkarılabilir. Bu dersin seçilmesi için öğrencilerin bilgilendirilmesi önerilmektedir.
The Turkic World Geography course can be selected as an elective course in the 10th and 11th grades in high schools as of the 2023-2024 academic year. The aim of this research is to determine whether the Turkic world geography course has an effect on the formation of students’ awareness of the Turkic world. The research was designed in phenomenological design. The data were collected by semi-structured interview technique. The study group consisted of 30 students of an Anatolian High School in Kayseri who took the elective geography of the Turkic world course and 30 students who did not take this course. The students are in grade 11. 40% of the participants were boys and 60% were girls. Criterion sampling method, one of the purposeful sampling methods, was used in the selection of the participants. The interviews lasted for 4 days and a total of 20 hours, 9 minutes and 17 seconds were interviewed. Interviews were conducted at the end of the academic year. The data were analysed by descriptive analysis method. According to the findings, it was understood that the students who took the elective geography of the Turkic world course had a better awareness of the Turkic world than those who did not. According to the findings, it can be concluded that this course has an important place in teaching the geography of Turkic states. It is recommended that students be informed to choose this course.
