Özet

The Türkiye contains the second most active faults on the world and geographically placed at the very high seismic activity. It has become an extremely important subject of research on strengthening RC (reinforced-concrete) structures without sufficient earthquake resistance. Within the scope of this study, with two different types of innovative composite materials, an experimental study is planned to strengthening the columns without sufficient earthquake performance by using carbon-reinforced-fibre-fabric (CFRP) strips and textile-reinforced-mortar (TRM) layers. The variables examined within the horizon of the study are the type of composite material used for strengthening, strip width, and whether or not anchor is used at the strip overlap point. In this study, a total of 9 column test specimens, which are the reference test specimen without strengthening and eight RC column test specimens that strengted with two different types of composite material, were produced and tested under the effect of axial loading. According to the test results, the load-displacement behavior, ultimate load capacity, initial stiffness value, displacement ductility ratios, and energy dissipation capacities were evaluated. It was also examined, which of the two different composite materials used for strengthening of the RC columns, are more effective in improving the performance of the columns.
