The need to combat climate change and cut carbon emissions has made the renewable energy (RE) transition a global priority for many countries. As a country, rich in hydrocarbon resources Azerbaijan attempts to diversify its energy sector, lessen its reliance on fossil fuels and also make more investments in renewable energy sources. This article suggests a conceptual approach to assist Azerbaijan’s technological transition towards RE by emphasizing a trinity-strategy encompassing-science: research and innovation, manufacturing: localization and development of the RE industry, operation: management, monitoring and maintenance of RE. Key initiatives include establishing a local supply chain, fostering innovation through research and development, and implementing educational programs. The paper further provides expert recommendations for a coordinated, sustainable approach to RE integration, aiming to boost Azerbaijan’s energy security and enhance its contribution to global sustainable development goals. The suggested frame-work outlines a practical pathway for Azerbaijan’s long-term energy transition.
