Özet

Growing use of intermittent and low-inertia renewable energy sources (RES) makes it very hard to control the frequency in current power systems. Additionally, there are unavoidable time delays when utilizing communication networks for coordination and control, and parametric uncertainties further exacerbate the stability concern. This work presents a detailed evaluation of the robust delay-dependent stability (DDS) of a microgrid (MG) equipped with a superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) component. To determine the robust stability regions (RSRs) in the proportional–integral (PI) controller parameter space, a new frequency-domain method combining Kharitonov’s theorem (KT) alongside stability boundary locus (SBL) procedure is proposed. The consequences of communication time delays (CTDs) and percentages of parametric uncertainty on the RSRs are also examined. The simulation results show that the RSRs become smaller as the time delay and parametric uncertainty increase. This reduction suggests that the robustness of the MG–SMES system deteriorates under these conditions. Nevertheless, the inclusion of SMES improves the overall stability and frequency response of the system. Finally, the theoretical outcomes are corroborated via the quasi-polynomial mapping-based root-finder (QPmR) method and time-domain simulations. The close agreement among the results confirms the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method.
