Özet

The northern bald ibis, which can be a good example of the union of society and science, is considered as a source of a socioscientific issues (SSI) program in this study. In this study, it is aimed to determine how the SSI program applied to endangered bald ibis and high school students living in the same region affects students' views individually, socially and globally. Qualitative research method was used in the research. The study group of the research consists of 75 students studying in a state high school in Birecik district of Şanlıurfa. In the research, an SSI program that focuses on student interaction was used. After the SSI program implementation, students were asked how their views on bald ibis changed individually, socially and globally. The answers given by the students were evaluated by content analysis. As a result of the research, it was understood that the desire to protect and take action occurred with the increase in the feelings of individual love and pity for bald ibis in high school students. Socially, students felt more responsible for the northern bald ibis. It has been determined that they are willing to work with their friends, families and authorities on this issue. From a global perspective, it has been understood that the northern bald ibis is a problem of the world despite being a species living in a certain region.
