Abstract

Bis [1-substituted (-NO2, -COOH, -Cl, -Br) phenyl-3,5-diphenylformazanato] nickel (II) complexes were synthesized and characterized using elemental analyses, FTIR, GC-mass spectra, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR and UV-vis spectra. The electrochemical behavior, number of electrons transferred, diffusion coefficients and heterogeneous rate constants were determined using cyclic voltammetry, ultramicrodisc electrodes and chronoamperometry; possible mechanisms were proposed based on the ensuing data. A correlation between lambda(max) and E-ox1, E-red1 and k(s) values was investigated. (c) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All fights reserved.
