Abstract

A new species, Galium polatliense, is described and illustrated from Polatl & imath;, Ankara province in T & uuml;rkiye. The new species belongs Galium sect. Jubo-Galium. It is related to G. dumosum and G. graecum subsp. graecum, from which it differs by its leaves, pedicels, corolla, ovary, and mericarp features. The diagnostic characteristics of G. polatliense and related taxa are discussed. The ecology, conservation status, and geographical distribution of the new species are presented. The pollen, trichome, and mericarp morphological properties of the new species and closely related taxa were investigated and compared using a light microscope (LM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM).
