The Government of the Republic of Turkey attempted to prepare a law embracing all workers working in the country as of the early 1920's; and as a result, the "Labor Law" numbered 3008 was declared in 15 June 1936. During that process, various drafts were prepared as part of the attempts in preparation of the law. This study analyses the responds given to the questionnaire made by Ikdam Journal in 1927 in connection with the draft law. The journal announced in 19 April 1927 that ideas and proposals of Turkish workers in Istanbul and other provinces would be published on the Journal; and the draft law consisting of 27 articles was announced on the journal in 20 April 1927. It is rather important that the journal published the text of the Draft Law and prepared a questionnaire. Thanks to this publication, the workers had the chance to discuss the content of the draft law and to explain their attitudes before the members of the parliament. Analysis of the ideas and proposals sent to the journal by the workers between 20 April 1927 and 28 May 1927 will contribute to the comprehension of the working conditions, living conditions and problems of the workers during that period in the light of their own expressions.
